The owl

Last Night... I was up late... I went to one of the places that I know an Owl likes to hang out... Now... normally they allow me to get pretty close... before they start squalking at me... trying to scare me away.... but this time... I wasn't really in the mood to get close... I sat down about 40 feet away.... And she started whooing at me (not squalking). It was strange... and just starring at me. not 30 seconds later... she takes flight.. flies about 10 feet in my direction... she cocks her head to the side.. and takes a few hops toward me... then starts skipping towards me. stopping every 10 feet. Closer and closer and closer...
My heart was pounding.... she got as close as 10 inches away from my foot... "Whoo... whoo?" and for three minutes She just looked at me... Strait into the eyes... cocking her head to one side and the other.

And... She wasn't trying to scare me... it was a different behavior... Scaring a larger animal consists of swualking like a loud turkey... and flying at you... a kamikaze bluff. and hitting you with a puff of air from their wings.... when they want to scare you... Its actually kinda scarry... but this time was different....

and its not like its been domesticated... because... she's a bird of prey... they don't eat bread... and I don't know anyone who walks around with cockroaches crickets mice squirrels or frogs in their pockets!


Man... It was awesome!!!

But...
Then a cockroach started up my shirt... the spikes on the feet touched my skin... felt similar to the moment a black widow bites (I've been bitten before and didn't want to again)... I grabbed it through my shirt... but... I moved too quickly... it scared the owl... she flew away.... she came back... a bit later... but she wasn't about to approach me.... not again... :(

I did get closer... about 10 feet... I hung out with her for a while... but.. we kept our distance.

Well, congratulations.:dance: I'm sure you will find a way to use up the free time. I thought when I retired, even though I was at home with kids, I would have more free time. :lol: Wow, are you a cheese lover, too? The doctor told me I shouldn't eat cheese anymore, but I have to have at least a small piece before I go to bed at night.:sleep:

I love just about any kind of cheese. I'm a cheese-aholic. I gave up cottage cheese and cream cheese and buttermilk, but not my cheese. :love:
